The programme presented by Accent Ensemble is inspired by one of the most significant poetic cycles by Zoraida Burgos, one of the essential voices of contemporary literature from the Ebro Lands. The three selected poems, taken from Absolc el temps and specially set to music for this occasion by Inés Reguero, form the backbone of a concert that seeks to establish an intimate dialogue between word and music.
Burgos’s poetry, marked by profound sensitivity and great evocative power, reflects on the passage of time, memory, identity and the inner landscapes that shape human experience. The music expands these resonances and offers a new expressive dimension to the texts, transforming them into a shared artistic experience.
The concert will also feature the world premiere of a work by Joel España, a young composer from the region, written expressly for Accent Ensemble. This new creation engages in dialogue with the rest of the programme and reinforces the ensemble’s commitment to giving a voice to contemporary creators from the Ebro Lands. The programme is completed by works by Narcisa Freixas, Manuel de Falla and Rossend Aymí. Their inclusion also serves to pay tribute to Freixas on the centenary of her death, commemorate the 150th anniversary of Falla’s birth, and mark the first anniversary of Rossend Aymí’s passing—three commemorations that invite audiences to rediscover fundamental musical legacies.
Accent Ensemble is a chamber group formed by four musicians based and active in the Ebro Lands. Since its foundation ten years ago, the ensemble has devoted itself to researching and promoting the work of composers who have remained in the shadows or fallen into oblivion, particularly those from the Ebro region and neighbouring areas. Among its achievements are the recovery of works by the former chapel masters of Tortosa Cathedral and the rediscovery of unpublished compositions by figures such as Joan Monclús, Joan and Ricard Lamote de Grignon, Josep Gotós, Rossend Aymí, Lluís Arnau and, especially, Felip Pedrell (Tortosa, 1841 – Barcelona, 1922), one of the great figures of Catalan music at the turn of the twentieth century.
Cecília Aymí, soprano
Ricardo Forner, clarinet and bass clarinet
David Matheu, viola
Inés Reguero, piano
