Misa Tango, composed by Martín Palmeri in 1996, is one of the most distinctive choral works in the contemporary repertoire. In this composition, the Argentine composer achieves a remarkable synthesis between the liturgical tradition of the Catholic Mass and the expressive language of tango, particularly in its modern evolution associated with nuevo tango.

The work follows the Latin Mass Ordinary—Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus and Agnus Dei—yet moves beyond a strictly sacred conception into a sonic world filled with rhythm, passion and emotional intensity. Tango, with its syncopations, contrasts and lyricism, is not merely decorative here but becomes the true expressive engine of the work.
