Meeting Point: Joan Lamote de Grignon Municipal School of Music

Classical music communicator Toni Gallardo proposes a walking tour through Tortosa that brings together history, music and the urban landscape through three key figures of Tortosa’s and Catalonia’s musical heritage: the pedagogue and composer Felip Pedrell (1841–1922), the tenor Lluís Canalda (1890–1961) and the pianist, composer and conductor Joan Lamote de Grignon (1872–1949).

The route visits several significant sites in the city connected to these musicians. It begins at the Joan Lamote de Grignon Municipal School of Music, continues through Teodor González Park and concludes on Cervantes Street, where the Doré Cinema and Theatre stood during the first half of the twentieth century.

Toni Gallardo’s proposal is more than a historical itinerary: it is also a musical experience. As participants walk through the streets of Tortosa, music, personal stories and the shadow of Wagner become the thread that links the lives of these three musicians connected to the city.
