Kassia, a Byzantine nun from the 6th century, is the first woman whose compositions have been preserved, hymns that remain part of the liturgy of the Orthodox church. She founded a convent in Constantinople and dedicated her life to spiritual art. Hildegard, an 8th century nun, wrote unique music that broke with the conventions of its time. \nEnsemble Kassiani<\/strong> is a Valencian ensemble that was established in 2021 by musician Sabrina Mart\u00edn. It is made up of women who specialise in ancient music, with extensive experience in performing works from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque. The name of the ensemble pays homage to Kassia of Constantinople, the first composer in history whose scores have been preserved. The ensemble was established to defend the role of women in the history of music and to raise awareness of women who are often forgotten, combining historical accuracy, artistic sensitivity, and a vision that is committed to equality<\/span>.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
